As previously mentioned my new sci-fi series Continuum is now playing at JTS.TV. This is a new online indie TV network... think Netflix meets HBO for independent web series. It's a subscription-based site that is only $3.99/mo. or $39.99/year. And the content creators get 50% of the revenues, so it's very filmmaker friendly.
Currently there are 4 episodes of Continuum on the site, with new episodes rolling out each Tuesday. And, there are also a dozen or so other series on there that you'll have full access to - on your computer, phone, tablet and coming soon Roku box for your TV.

I know money is tight these days and there are tons of entertainment choices out there, but I think you'll find this to be an affordable fun alternative (plus you get to support my work!). :)

As you said there are tons of free alternatives out there. For this model to work there needs to be a distinct value proposition and, much as I like Continuum, JTS.tv has not demonstrated they have one.
Their best bet is that fans will see this as an alternative to the indiegogo/kickstarter campaigns but even that is a hard sell. I suspect that more fans would be likely to support Continuum directly because a Web series is at its core social and fans like to feel directly involved.

I agree with you, but it's very early. Continuum is really a guinea pig in this model and I knew that going in. JTS needs to continue to get exclusive content and should IMO fund original productions much in the vein of HBO and/or what Netflix is now doing. This would again IMO build a sustainable model to also include the "library" shows they currently have in their slate.
The crowd fund mentality is also one that has been discussed quite a bit, and I think it's a good pitch. Instead of funding one Kickstarter campaign, join JTS and fund multiple shows and hope that they will continue.
